Can I have my books signed?

Of course, all books bought from this Kickstarter (both the copies of Age of Empyre and the other books) will be signed by the author.

Can I have my books dedicated?

Sorry, no. We used to do dedicated books but the process of “marrying” a signature to a shipping label is incredibly difficult to do and the fulfillment house doesn’t allow for it. To do so we would have to ship all the packages by hand and that would mean us anding more than 2 tons worth of books. We are just too old to move that kind of weight around on our own.

Will the ebook work with the Kindle?

Yes, of course. You get three different ebook files. The .mobi file is the format that works best with kindles, and there are instructions that show you how to get it on to your devices.

Can I get ebooks for all the titles?

Unfortunately no. The ebook rights for the first 3 novels are licensed by Del Rey (a fantasy imprint of Penguin Random House) and only they can sell copies of those. You can, however, buy them from your favorite online retailer and then buy books 4 - 6 from us.

Can I purchase the audio version?

Not through the Kickstarter. The audio right for Age of Empyre is licensed to Audible Studios and only they can sell the book in that format. That said, the pre-order page is already live and you can get a copy from this link (https://www.amazon.com/Age-of-Empyre/dp/B07TYFY3ZF). If you pre-order, it’ll show up on your device on May 5.

For reward levels with additional books, will I be able to select which titles I want? How does that work?

Yes, of course. When the Kickstarter is over, there will be a survey to gather information from you about your order. For each “additional book” you’ll be able to specify which Legends of the First Empire book you desire. You could, for instance, have 3 copies of Age of Empyre for the THREE BOOK NIGHT level, or you could have 2 Age of Empyre and one Age of Legend, or any combination that adds up to three books.

Will all the books be first editions?

For the Age of Empyre titles, without question. Also, any Age of Death books will also be the first editions. Presently, we have sufficient first edition stock for Age of Legend, but we are near the end of that print run and it’s possible we’ll need to do a second printing in order to fulfill this Kickstarter (it’ll depend on what our final numbers are). As for Age of Swords, you’ll get a 50/50 chance of whether it will be a first or second printing. We bought out several thousands of books and we have a mix of both, and we can’t go through all the books trying to find first editions. For Age of Myth they will absolutely not be first editions (I think we are currently on the 4th of 5th printing). Also, as far as Age of War is concerned, I think that is on it’s second or third printing.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
